Individual agent training for plan year 2019
It's training time again! Like last year, PinPoint will be the system used to track both under-65 and over-65 annual training requirements. The system has a different look and feel, but the functionality is almost exactly the same.
Medi-Pak Choice Milestones
On or around August 10, returning agents with Medi-Pak Choice (O-65) appointment can access PinPoint to:
- Complete their annual Medicare training (see instructions below if already completed through AHIP)
- Take the Arkansas Blue Cross 2019 Online Product Trainings
- Take the test
Helpful Hint: When you're going through the online product training, take notice of the resource section to assist with your comprehension of the online trainings.
New! Agents must register for a required face-to-face training under the events section. Please note that in the event/class title there are different classes for product (O-65/U-65) and agency (independent, Farm Bureau, NIBC). And of course by location.
Individual U-65 Milestones
On August 1, the 2019 FFM training was released. On or around August 10, agents can access PinPoint to track when you've been identified as having completed your FFM training so you can register for your face-to-face training.
Please note in the event/class title there are different classes for product (O-65/U-65) and agency (independent, Farm Bureau, NIBC). And of course by location.
On August 11, agents can renew their Arkansas Exchange Producer License (remember, this is not the same thing as the FFM certification; additional instructions below).
On September 4, the 2019 Arkansas Blue Cross U-65 content will be available. Agents will be required to:
- Take course (just like last year) and test
- You must register for a face-to-face class in addition to the online training and test
Returning PinPoint users (and you’re all returning PinPoint users if you're currently appointed sell U-65 and/or O-65 products) visit the website here.
Username will be your NPN. Password is whatever you set up last year. (If you forgot, just use the forgot-password link and follow instructions.)
Once you log in, access the "Certifications" tile to see your assigned tracks.
Based on your assigned track (U-65 and/or O-65) you will see two tracks: Individual MA-Arkansas and/or Individual U-65 Arkansas. If you do not see a track assigned to you, and you think it should be there, email firstname.lastname@example.org to research. You are assigned tracks based on your current appointment authority.
Individual MA-Arkansas Track
Some of you may have already taken AHIP for plan-year 2019 Medicare Advantage and fraud, waste and abuse (FWA) modules. Arkansas Blue Cross will accept AHIP’s 2019 training as a substitute to the PinPoint Medicare and FWA training. Like last year, AHIP will transmit your completion results to us, but you must tell AHIP to do so. Doing this is easy — here’s how:
- Go to this AHIP page
- You'll be prompted to transmit your already-completed courses to Arkansas Blue Cross and will see confirmation of this transmittal (there is no cost to you to transmit already-completed module results)
You also can complete the Medicare Advantage and FWA training through PinPoint. The cost is $89.95. There isn't a cost to set up a PinPoint account or send your AHIP Medicare Advantage training results to us.
If you take the PinPoint course to get your certification, click the appropriate link and you will be redirected to the national annual certification. Farm Bureau agents and internal reps, for instance, will take this course. This page should look familiar to you.
After completing the Medicare Advantage certification course, you will be able to take the two Arkansas Blue Cross courses: Individual Value of Blue and Individual Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement. Upon completion, you can take the test. You get three attempts to pass. Refer to the resource section for supplementary materials that may assist with the test and training. Do not contact your individual product representative for assistance with the test, especially if you have not already taken it three times and demonstrated you have reviewed all the available resources (including retaking the courses and reviewing the available resources).
Once your Medicare Advantage track looks like the screenshot below, you've done all you can do. We will be updating the milestone at Arkansas Blue Cross once we have reviewed all requirements and verified completion.
Independent and Farm Bureau agents) must also register and plan to attend an F2F training this year. You can register for a training date convenient for you by navigating to the event calendar. Please note there are different options for Farm Bureau agents, NIBC agents and our independent agents. Your attendance is required for each track you’re renewing (U-65 and/or O-65), and the classes/events are labeled differently for each.
View available courses (there are three pages of options, see bottom of each page to navigate to additional options). To select and register is easy!
Individual U-65 Track
The 2019 FFM Training Certification training is now available! Below are instructions agents should follow. We will check the FFM completion list daily and update this course as complete for any agent who is on this list and registered with PinPoint. The first time we will update is August 15.
To access training module, go to the CMS portal. If you have trouble logging in, or you have been locked out, you can call the CMS support desk at 855-267-1515 and they will reset/unlock your account. Many of you will need to do this, as passwords must be changed every 60 days. Arkansas Blue Cross is unable to help resolve these issues.
Once you've accessed the CMS portal, choose one of two training vendors. MLMS (shown in a screenshot below) is free. No continuing education units are offered with this vendor, but it will satisfy your certification requirements.
You will not satisfy this requirement and cannot market or sell 2019 products until your NPN is on the FFM Completion List for 2019. Arkansas Blue Cross will check this list every business day, but it may take one to three business days to see your completion status reflected on your PinPoint dashboard. Below is how you can see whether the FFM shows you as complete. We look at the same list, and this must be complete before you can be renewed for 2019.
Exchange producer license renewed through September 2019 (available to renew no sooner than August 11, 2019)
You must complete the FFM training first, and we recommend you wait one business day after completing the FFM certification. The Arkansas Insurance Department cannot process your renewal application until they confirm you have completed your 2019 FFM training. They check the same list that we do to confirm you have completed your FFM training.
All Arkansas Exchange Producer licenses are set to expire the end of September, so it is imperative that you are proactive in getting this license renewed. Arkansas Blue Cross will not be able to renew your individual U-65 appointment unless this is renewed. To follow are detailed instructions on how to renew your 2019 exchange producer license.
Detailed Exchange Producer License Renewal
Start at the National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR) site.
1: Select "Resident Licensing Renewals"
2: Click "Renew"
3: Select "Arkansas" as your state

12: Review the fee estimate
13: Submit your application
Once finished, it will look like the screenshot below...
Your renewal application will begin processing. For most, the only verification to be done by the Arkansas Insurance Department is confirming that you have completed the FFM training for 2019. They will check the same FFM completion list as what we illustrated above.
After your Exchange License is renewed by the Arkansas Insurance Department, it will be reflected on the NIPR PDP. PinPoint will check for completions on a nightly basis, so within one or two business days of approval, this will be marked as complete within your PinPoint portal.
