Group dental, vision moving to a different system
Your group dental and vision members are being migrated to a different membership system at Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield. The move will help streamline our business, without our membership feeling any disruption. Read the FAQs to learn more about the migration.
Why are groups being moved?
The transition allows Arkansas Blue Cross to be more efficient and make adjustments to your bills more easily. Our medical business has already migrated to this new system, so it will allow all plans to be on one platform.
When is the migration happening?
All fully insured dental and vision plans are currently in progress (June 2019). All medical groups have already been migrated to the system.
Will this impact my new groups or renewals?
Generally, we’re processing groups in a reasonable and timely manner. If you have a May 1, 2019, effective date for new or renewal groups, please submit them by April 15.
What changes should your client's group administrator expect?
Billing – Similar to medical groups that have already migrated, there will be no “re-bill” feature. Eligibility changes submitted after the billing cutoff will be reflected on the next month’s bill. The billing cutoff for paper bills is the 15th of the month and for electronic bills is the 26th.
Billing adjustments – Billing adjustments for groups with paper bills can be requested via the Billing Adjustment Form and for electronic billing groups through eBill Manager. Please note that submitting a billing adjustment will only affect that month’s bill. You will still need to go into your enrollment system (Blueprint for Employers, BluesEnroll, Direct 834) or submit a paper form to add or terminate the member.
Payment address – The payment address will change when dental and vision groups move to the new system. The new address will be on the bottom of the paper invoice or listed in eBill Manager. Please update your financial records to make sure your payment is mailed to the correct address. This will help ensure accurate and timely posting of payment.
Divisions - Group departments will change to divisions, and previous department names/numbers will be reconfigured with new division names/numbers.
Will the bill change?
If the group has dental- and/or vision-only coverage, the bill will change and look similar to the format below. If the group has a medical policy the dental or vision bill will look similar to what groups are seeing today.
Will members notice any differences?
On May 1, new dental and vision ID cards will begin to be released. They will have a new look and each covered family member will now have their own personalized ID card. Members will now be able to access electronic ID cards more quickly through the Arkansas Blue Cross mobile app.
