Arkansas Insurance Department cuts paper from licensing

Following is the verbatim body text of the Arkansas Insurance Department (AID) notice (Bulletin No.12-2019, dated September 20, 2019) of changes that will make its producer licensing renewal and payment processes completely “paperless” effective January 1, 2020:

“The purpose of this Bulletin is to inform you of a change in the type of payment accepted for licensing fees and the form of reminder notices.

On December 27, 2018, AID issued Rule 57 § 6 requiring all licensing fees be paid electronically. Beginning January 1, 2020, the Department will no longer accept paper checks for license fees. Any fees that are sent by paper check will be returned to the sender.

All renewal fees and application fees will be processed electronically through www.nipr.com. Payment can be through credit card, electronic check, or electronic funds transfer. By law, a penalty of double the fee may be charged to licensees who fail to meet the payment deadline.

As of January 1, 2020, the Department will no longer send paper renewal forms through the mail. If you wish to receive an electronic license renewal reminder, please ensure that your email address for yourself and your agency are current through SBS.

All insurance companies are directed to forward this bulletin to all appointed producers and agencies. Questions concerning this bulletin should be directed to the Department’s licensing division at (501) 371-2750 or in an email to insurance.license@arkansas.gov.”
