Connectivity problem leads to August Good-Cause Exemption for Arkansas Works

The state Department of Human Services (DHS) reported network issues with their work requirement portal on Wednesday, September 5, 2018. This was the last day to report work-requirement activities for August, and unfortunately, some Arkansas Works enrollees were unable to log their hours due to the network issue.

If this network issue kept any of your clients from reporting on September 5, 2018, they can request a good-cause exemption by sending an email to or by contacting their local DHS county office by Friday, October 5, 2018. The good-cause exemption is applicable for all Arkansas Works clients that needed to report activities for August and experienced a network disruption, not just those with a third strike.

Clients who email to request the exemption must provide information about the activity or activities they were trying to report, and must have completed 80 hours of total work activities to have their Arkansas Works non-compliance removed for August. DHS will send a notice to all individuals who were required to report in August to let them know they can request a good-cause exemption if they were unable to report.
