2017 Blue & You Fitness Challenge Kicks Off with a Founders Fitness Throwdown

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (March 2, 2017) — The gauntlet has been thrown down and the clock has started. The 2017 Blue & You Fitness Challenge has begun with almost 200 teams participating in the contest. And the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH), Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield and the Arkansas Department of Human Services (DHS) started the Challenge with some bold banter! The founding groups have challenged each other to a “fitness throwdown” to add a little friendly competition to the contest.

A virtual kickoff video just released features representatives from each of the three founding groups encouraging employees to start moving and logging their exercise. (https://www.youtube.com/ watch?v=SrWeFiHnG9M)

The groups will compete to see who can earn the most points. Groups earn points when participants log exercises and activity at blueandyoufitnesschallenge-ark.com. The competition has grown to include hundreds of groups across the country. Businesses use the free, three-month event as part of their wellness programs, while community groups, churches, neighborhood associations, friends and family use the contest as a chance to stay or get in shape, remain connected and have fun.

All other participants are encouraged to follow suit of the founders and issue their own challenges online by using the hashtags #BYFitChallenge and #FitnessThrowdown. The website’s leaderboard will post group points to showcase progress, and winners will be announced after the competition ends on May 31.
