Alicia Berkemeyer named Senior Vice President of Provider Network Programs for Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (January 22, 2018) — Alicia Berkemeyer has been named senior vice president of Provider Network Programs for Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield.

In her new role, Berkemeyer will be responsible for all programs related to provider networks, primary care, commercial pharmacy and value-based compensation programs. She will also continue to lead the Arkansas market for the Comprehensive Primary Care initiative (a multi-payer program sponsored by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ Innovation Center).

Berkemeyer joined Arkansas Blue Cross in 1989 and has held several positions in the areas of operations, sales, marketing, pharmacy and primary care. She has more than 28 years of experience in the healthcare industry with a focus on primary care and pharmacy. She has led and managed the development of patient-centered medical homes, employer clinics and pharmacy programs.

Berkemeyer played an instrumental role in Arkansas’ participation in the federal Comprehensive Primary Care Initiative and assisted our state in receiving significant funding from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ Innovation Center in the form of a State Innovation Model grant.

She earned her bachelor’s degree from John Brown University. She is a certified health consultant, a managed healthcare professional and a Professional in the Academy of Healthcare Management. She is also a graduate of the Northwestern University, Advanced Management – Global Program and a Kellogg Executive Scholar. Berkemeyer also serves on many boards and committees of industry and charitable organizations.
