Joanna Thomas, M.D., named vice president for Clinical Strategy and Population Health for Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (January 23, 2018) – Joanna Thomas, M.D., has been promoted to
vice president of Clinical Strategy and Population Health for Arkansas Blue Cross and
Blue Shield, a position that will afford her the opportunity to lead efforts for statewide
and national integrated care management. Dr. Thomas joined Arkansas Blue Cross in
2011 as regional medical director for the Northwest Region and has been instrumental in
implementing a custom care management model for some of Arkansas Blue Cross’ large
Dr. Thomas earned her medical degree at the University of Liverpool School of Medicine in
England UK. She completed her family medicine residency at the University of Arkansas
for Medical Sciences (UAMS) in Fayetteville. She is Board Certified in Family Medicine, a
Fellow of the American Academy of Family Practice.
She served in a variety of roles as Associate Professor at UAMS Northwest in Fayetteville,
where she was an award-winning teacher and named three times as a “Best Doctor in
America” by peers.
