Process change for HealthEquity COBRA clients

Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield provides fully insured clients access to HealthEquity/WageWorks COBRA administration and absorbs the per-employee-per-month fee, which the client may opt to elect or decline. We also can provide self-funded clients with a quote for HealthEquity’s COBRA administration along with fixed cost proposals.

Due to recent updates with the HealthEquity/WageWorks renewal process, clients who use HealthEquity/WageWorks with renewals April 1, 2023 and beyond will need to use the HealthEquity employer portal to update their plan renewal information. This includes (but is not limited to): plan design, plan summaries and rate information. You may have clients who have chosen to use the WageWorks/HealthEquity Cobra administrative services through their Arkansas Blue Cross relationship. If your clients utilize this service, Arkansas Blue Cross and HealthEquity will communicate these process changes. We appreciate any assistance you can provide communicating these changes to our mutual clients.

All active COBRA administration clients are currently accessing the COBRA Employer Portal to manage their COBRA eligibility, monitor COBRA participant payments, etc. Adding this new information should take 15 minutes or less. If an employer has not been accessing the employer portal to maintain COBRA eligibility, their updates may take longer. If you would like to gain access to the COBRA Employer Portal you may do so. During the renewal process or when submitting a request within the system, your client can add you or other staff as users of their portal. If you are listed within the client portal as a user, you will receive emails regarding the renewal and your client’s renewal responsibilities.

As your client’s medical renewal approaches, and if their contact information is already in the portal, they will receive information from HealthEquity/WageWorks regarding their open enrollment responsibilities. To ensure all clients receive this important information, the Arkansas Blue Cross team will also send information on the changes to the COBRA renewal process to our clients and will copy the broker around the time their medical renewal is released.

Because April 1, 2023 medical renewals have already been released, clients currently utilizing COBRA administration through the Arkansas Blue Cross relationship with this renewal date will receive an email by end of business Monday, February 13 from their Arkansas Blue Cross account representative. All emails will contain the resources provided below.

If you or your client need additional assistance, we have listed contact information below for the HealthEquity/WageWorks team and included some resources to help you and your clients understand this transition. If your team requires training beyond the modules found within the employer portal, please contact the email or phone number listed below.

We encourage your team and your clients to watch the portal overview video.

It is our intent to make this transition as smooth as possible for our clients. Please let us know if you have feedback or if we can be of assistance.
